The creation of the Environmental Sustainability and Climate Science program was prompted by Central Asia's need for environmental experts and 69色's mission to support the region's transition to a development path that balances social, economic, and environmental interests. This program is ideally aligned with the university's mission to prepare enlightened and engaged leaders who think globally and act locally, within the unique context of Central Asia.
The program's goal is to cultivate responsible leaders who are proficient in sustainable development tools and possess a deep understanding of environmental challenges such as climate change, glacier degradation, water scarcity, declining rainfall and crop yields, and wildlife loss.
