The Software Engineering Program

Faculty Position - Rank Open

Position: Full-time

The Software Engineering (SWE) Program at the American University of Central Asia (69ɫ) is inviting applications from qualified candidates for a full-time faculty position - rank open. Candidates should hold a PhD in Computer Science or related areas. The area of research interests is open. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience.

Full-time faculty are expected to teach at least six courses (three per term), participate in academic advising, and supervise BA’s theses. Responsibilities and expectations also include participation in programs of the SWE and in university life.

The language of instruction is English.

Qualities of Full-Time SWE Faculty

We seek a faculty member who is

  • Hold a Master's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related area. Candidates with a PhD or nearing completion of a PhD will be given preference.
  • Excellent knowledge and teaching skills in OOP, Algorithms, and Data Structures.
  • Strong background in C/C++, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge and practical skills.
  • Ability to adapt to and adopt new technological stacks, programming languages, and related technologies as agreed upon by the faculty or outlined by educational standards.
  • Fluent in English; fluency in Russian and / or Kyrgyz will be an asset.

Full -time Geography Professor

The General Education Department announces an opportunity to join our University and department as a Geography Professor. We are seeking an experienced professional, who specializes in Geography of Kyrgyzstan and has demonstrated experience in teaching for more than three years.

Position: Full -time Geography Professor

Department: General Education

Location: American University of Central Asia, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

Deadline: March 15, 2024

Start date: August 1, 2024

Responsibilities:

- Conducting lectures, seminars, and workshops in various areas of geography.

- Coordinating preparation of state examination materials and supervision of state exams.

- Contributing to the development of curriculum and course materials.

- Participating in departmental meetings and collaborative initiatives.

Qualifications:

- An M.A. and/ or Ph.D. in General Geography, Ecology, and other related fields.

- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a commitment to student success.

- Active research expertise within the field.

- Ability to contribute to the academic community through service and collaboration.

- Proficient command of academic English.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
