Basketball for All

Project Goals

To raise awareness about autism spectrum disorder and Down syndrome, as well as to create an inclusive atmosphere for 17 children with special needs through weekly basketball practices with 25 volunteers during the months of March and April, 2021.

Project Results

From March till April, 29 volunteers and tutors from 69ɫ and FLEX alumni program were involved in providing basketball sessions for 17 children. In addition, 'Autism Awareness' contest and informational sessions were held for 84 high school and university students in Bishkek, Osh, Toktogul and Naryn to spread awareness about inclusivity and autism spectrum disorder.

The problem of providing equal rights and opportunities for disabled people has been a crucial problem for the entire time, particularly in the countries of the Post Soviet Union. When a person is with some kind of disabilities, he/she is immediately perceived differently or even excluded from the typical society. Following this, there are few almost to no opportunities which make the lives of these people convenient.
